About Melina:

 

I bring over 30 years of experience in mathematics education, blending classroom expertise with innovative professional learning. As the PreK–12 Math/Science TOSA for Vancouver Public Schools, I support teachers in transforming math instruction across all grades.

My career spans from elementary teacher to university instructor, including seven years as a Secondary Math Coach in Evergreen School District, where I supported district-wide efforts in best practices, learning labs, and Common Core implementation. A passionate advocate for “messy teaching,” I believe meaningful growth happens when educators are free to experiment and revise—mirroring the student learning process. I design collaborative, sustained professional learning that moves beyond one-off workshops. With an M.A. in Educational Leadership from the University of Portland, I continue to champion students and teachers as learners and doers of mathematics.
