When teachers have the freedom to learn without pressure and have the power to test, and try, and revise, and try again, real growth can happen for teachers and students alike. Thus professional learning experiences must feel “rough draft.” They must feel like safe spaces to try new things, to wonder how they work, to look for evidence that students are learning, and then use that evidence to revise our teaching.
